The Municipality of Győr-Moson-Sopron county established a public fund to coordinate and support the local independent aletnative cultural and scientific processes. The MEDIAWAVE Festival, which has been expanded regional, created an unsual structural form by supporting the local intellectual ideas.

The fund called ROMER HOUSE, public fund of the Győr-Moson-Sopron county movies, arts, education and youth, got a part of the building ROMER HOUSE for its operation.
The colleagues of the fund- who are mainly the organizers of the MEDIAWAVE Festival –made an intellectual and art centre, with art film screenings (unique in the area), concerts
(jazz, alternative, folk), exhibitions , scientific and artistic performances.
The famous and reputable ROMER HOUSE has been acting as a remarkable part of the Contemporary Artistic Programs of the Soros Foundation since September 2002.

Thanks to the wide cultural work of ROMER HOUSE the following local events can be presented: „BAKONYALJI VIGASSÁGOK”, Local Art Festival, Art and Crafts and Lifestyle workshop in Ravazd, the International Movie and Photo Festival in Rábapatona and the MEDIAWAVE Festival.
